Halloween season is upon us and no Halloween party is complete without amazing cocktails. But it’s Halloween and if the party guests will be donning costumes, the cocktails should as well! Check out these easy Halloween cocktail recipes. They’re simple to whip up and serve and only require a few ingredients. These great recipes can be used for parties, small gatherings, Halloween party games, etc.

Dracula Vampire Cocktails with Fangs
Ingredients:
* 4 cups Baileys Irish Cream Liqueur
* 1 cup vodka, any brand
* Red food coloring
* store bought fondant
* Red icing, in gel form
Prep:
Mix the cocktail ingredients beforehand by adding the Bailey’s and vodka together in a glass pitcher. Stir in a drops of red food coloring until the mixture is dark enough to resemble blood. To make the individual cocktails, pour the red Bailey’s mixture into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake the mixture in the shaker and strain it into fondant fang glasses (see below).
Fondant Fang Glassez:
1. Sprinkle cornstarch on your work surface.
2. Roll out the purchased white fondant, as if you were rolling out cookie dough.
3. Use a knife to cut out 3-inch wide scary Dracula fangs.
4. Line up the top edge of the fangs with the top rim of a wineglass.
5. Apply a little water on the back of the fangs so that they stick to the glass.
6. Accent the tips of the fangs with the red icing gel to resemble blood drops.

Required Poker Reading Materials

Well? Do ya? Punk? Here is a brief rundown of some of the books that should be considered required poker reading. 1) Doyle Brunson’s Super System This book is the pivotal book in learning the basics. It comes in two sets, the old one and the new one, and it provides some of the most in-depth, accessible information in understanding the fundamentals of the game of poker. Complete with easy to follow examples and a great flow that guides you from beginner to intermediate to advanced in on time. 2.) Poker: The Real Deal by Phil Gordon Gordon is one those pokerplayers who’s as unorthodox in his advice giving as addictive as he is in storytelling. While the book isn’t one to get really in-depth into actual poker strategy, this is one hell of a self-help book. It borders on neurolinguistic programming, as the words seem to permeate into your brain, and you recall them almost subconsciously at the table. A must for understanding the poker mindset. 3.) Harrington on Holdem This book is not to be taken lightly. It is highly advanced in it’s technical knowledge, but simplistic enough that if you’ve been playing for a while you’ll easily see the gold mine of knowledge contained within. Again, I warn that this is not a light read, but if you can make it through all three and understand the concepts, I’d say you’re ready to start playing with the big boys. Finally number 4) Mike Caro’s Book of Poker Tells. This one is a bit dated, but it does supplement well the Phil Gordon book on the Poker mindset. Caro’s book is fully illustrated and gives real life examples into understanding the subconscious bodily and psychological actions that follow players when playing, even when they don’t know they’re doing it. My suggestion: Pick up all four, read them like a Holy Book, and watch your game soar.

Poker on the iPhone

I’m quite addicted to playing poker on my iPhone these days. There’s this cool little application that lets you play the game using five dice, and physically shaking the phone makes the dice roll around on a wooden board in real time, with real physics. Meanwhile, a computer controlled opponent rolls their dice and tries to best your hand. You each get three rolls to try and create the best “hand.” Since there are five dice in all, you can get five of a kind - unlike traditional poker (unless you’re using wild cards).

Winning hands give you points, usually two, although special circumstances awared you more. Win streaks, rare hands and come back hands give you additional points, which you’ll need to unlock new tables. Every once in a while, winning will produce a new set of dice. Each set, like the wooden dice, for example, provide you with different dice physics and sound effects. Some dice are hard, some soft, and they react accordingly. You can also unlock jewels, which you receive for completing neat little tasks in the game, like winning 10 hands in a row (as of yet uncompleted).

Is it better than poker? Not really, but it’s perfect for a subway ride.
