HDTV on the Mind

The world is changing. Years ago, we started receiving the first broadcasted images in out homes. As TV proliferated itself into our lives, the marvel of the achievement was enough to distract from any lacking in image quality. There has, over the years been a smooth evolution to better and better systems. An finally, in line with the proliferation of blue ray, satellite tv and great video games, HDTV comes along and changes everyones standards once again. Gone are the days when you could be happy with washed-out colors and a low resolution. Now you want a clearer picture and sharper colors, and you want it all for an affordable price.

HDTV is the TV to aspire for.Dont get suckered into keeping your old standard TV. HDTV gives you an even sharper picture. Picture it this way, watching a standard TV is like viewing the world through a dirty windowpane. With HDTV, there is no window. The images on the television screen are as close to lifelike as you can get, that is, without actually getting off the couch and watching real-life images. An HDTV can accomplish this feat with its high resolution; a million pixels, often more, combine to create a brilliant picture that will wow any viewer.

But whats the cost? Fortunately, prices are falling every year. Five years ago, most people were priced out of the HDTV market.

However, be warned. Owning an HDTV does not guarantee you the whole high-definition experience.Nop, you will need a few more accessories like a blue ray dvd player or satellite decoder. This sends the HD channels to your television; without one, you can only watch standard programming. Second, you will need high-def channels. Your cable or satellite provider offers a line-up of HD channels, though the number of available HD channels is nowhere close the number of available standard channels. Third, you will need an HD show or movie. Not all shows broadcast on an HD station are necessarily high-definition; news programs are often broadcast in standard-definition, as are most daytime programs. If you are watching a standard-def show, you may see a black bar on either side of the screen. Also, since you are watching a standard-def show on a high-def screen, the picture will not be nearly as clear or as sharp as with an HD program. Only when you have all three elements - an HD box, channel and show - can you experience television like never before.

Every Ezine writer knows that just publishing an ezine is not the only task that is involved in writing a Good ezine.
You must constantly search for new material and ways to promote the list also. Of the list compiled below, if you join a few lists a day to
promote your own list, you will have a nice number of subs before too long. You also may meet a few good publishers along the way who may want to swap ads, which is another way to get more subs. Some of the lists have less than 100 subs, but if we all join
them, their subs list will grow and it will be better for everyone
in the long run.
eGroups.com has the most lists and it is super easy to subscribe in Digest form on the web, to cut down on the
amount of email you receive each day. This can also be done at Topica.com, SmartGroups.com and Globeclubs.com

The Facts About Online DVD Rental Companies

Gepost door admin op 30/03/2008
Toegevoegd onder: Entertainment World

Online DVD rental is very popular right now for many reasons. Convenience, choice, and cost are only a few of those reasons. Some people still haven’t gotten in on it yet for one reason or another, but it is probably due to plain old common misconceptions.

One misconception that people have about online DVD rental is that it is way too complicated. Online DVD rental isn’t complicated. All you have to know how to do is use your mailbox and navigate a mouse. All you really need to do is pick your company. Compare costs and how many you are allowed to rent at once. Also compare available insurance and costs on the rentals.

After you pick a company, you join. Usually you pay per month or per year. This is usually much cheaper than renting if you rent on a regular basis. It doesn’t matter how many you rent because the cost doesn’t go up. Of course, if you only rent one or two a year, it might not be cost efficient unless you are ever late returning those movies. Late fees are usually as much or more as renting the movie was. This is probably the best thing about online DVD rental - there are absolutely no late fees with most of your companies.

When you join a rental club, you make your movie selections ahead of time. The first selections on your list are sent to you first. If you want to keep that movie for a while and watch it over and over again, that is okay. It is never deemed to be late with most of online DVD rental providers. You send your first selections back whenever you decide to. After the company gets those selections back, they send the next selections on your list to you.

For those people who don’t like getting online very often, this selection procedure can be a real plus. You can make your selections way in advance and only get back online after you have gotten through your entire selection list. But you can still get online and change your list before they are sent to you if you change your mind. Just make sure that you give them a day or two of notice so they are sure to have your selections on hand.

Online DVD rental is a better choice as far as selection goes. Online companies usually have a much greater selection of movies than your local movie rental stores do. Also, they are less likely to have all of their new releases checked out when you want them. All in all, online is a pretty good way to go.

Company Christmas party or holiday event planning made easy - Useful Tips

“Holiday entertainment planning is a serious business - a lot
happens behind the scenes, long before the CEO says thanks for a
job well-done”, says Incredible BORIS (Boris Cherniak). Around
this time of the year, human resources managers and company CEOs
are asking the age-old question - How do we make our holiday
event an affair to remember? After all, we are simply trying to
thank the employees, suppliers and their families for a job well
done throughout the year. We also want this event to motivate
the group to be happy and productive in the future. This is a
more difficult task that may appear from outside.

“The people planning functions have an enormous task of fitting
into the ever-shrinking budgets while keeping party-goers
satisfied,” says Boris Cherniak, corporate event planning
professional, comedy hypnotist entertainer and motivational
speaker.

Here is a helpful checklist of planning an affair for the
holidays (as provided by Boris Cherniak): 1. Budget. Break down
all the amounts allocated to each task then you can have a clear
view of how much room you have to play. Spend it wisely and know
what your limitations are. The old rule of thumb is you get what
you pay for. If it appears too inexpensive, it may be the
inexperience or you will not be getting what you expected. Get
the best value possible with the resources you have available.
It is easy to spend ANY budget. You may have to make a few
sacrifices. What gets eliminated first and what should be kept
at any cost? Always keep in mind of what the overall impression
by the attendees will be. Leave a lasting impression. 2. Number
of people in attendance - estimate the number of people expected
at the party. Keep in mind that a small percentage may not
attend due to lack of babysitters, illness or vacation. 3. Book
banquet hall facilities, venue location. Pick a location that is
convenient for your group with amenities like transportation,
parking, etc. 4. Food and catering - dinner / lunch, drinks or
buffet - most halls will offer you different choices of meal
options, hors d’oerves, desserts and per person amounts. Make
sure there are enough choices for all tastes. 5. Schedule and
timing. It is easy to under-estimate the amount of time a
function will take due to many unforeseen circumstances. Factors
such as how long the speeches will take, time to bring out the
food or attendees arriving late due to a freak snowstorm or
traffic. This can change the dynamic of your event - plan
accordingly and have a contingency plan. 6. Entertainment -
comedian, hypnotist, juggler, psychic, magician, DJ and dancing,
party games. Entertainment is a wonderful way to make your event
memorable. Entertainment comes in many budgets and styles. Pick
a solution that will not only make the company and event planner
look good, but will leave a lasting impression on the attendees.
Explore different options best suited to your group. Local or
national performers can be considered. Many are available on the
web and could be your first place of inquiry. Many agencies have
a roster of people they can suggest. Never forget to look within
your company for entertainment suggestions and talent (in every
company there is a band or a disk jockey that would be more than
happy to accommodate your budget and show off their talents).
Keep in mind that entertainers are extremely busy during the
holiday season - leaving booking your entertainment until the
last minute is not a good idea as your date may no longer be
available. 7. Sound, lighting, projection equipment and audio
visual materials - Have a run-through and make sure everything
is in place before your audience arrives so that you don’t have
to deal with “technical difficulties”. 8. Accommodations for any
out of town guests and transportation to and from the airport.
9. Taxi cabs for anyone that over-indulges in the open bar
concept and to avoid liability. 10. Registration - name cards
for your guests, open seating or pre-arranged seating plan. 11.
Awards, door prizes and giveaways. Many of these can be donated
by your suppliers or provided to you at their cost for your
holiday event. It shows good faith, and don’t be surprised if
the suppliers return the favor. 12. Party theme and décor -
color scheme, chair covers, centerpieces, flowers, ice
sculptures. One of the more unique ideas I saw recently was a
sports theme, where instead of elegant centerpieces, sports
memorabilia was placed in the center of the tables, which was
available for the guests to take home - these included running
shoes and football helmets. 13. Dress and attire. Let the
attendees know what to expect to wear - formal, casual or
business attire. We all heard a story of a prank where a person
is invited to a pajama party when it’s a formal affair. 14.
Invitations or a simple announcement in the company newsletter
and bulletin board. 15. Contracts. Commit to the people you will
be doing business with, since it usually is done on a first come
basis. Halls, performers and caterers have limited availability.
Be decisive and direct. Most people will give you a price range
that would depend on your choice of options. Many event
suppliers will require deposits to commit. 16. Presentations -
keep the speeches brief and to the point. Number of speakers
should be kept down to a minimum. After all, people are there to
be social and not to be lectured. 17. Everyone wants to have a
party on a Saturday. You may find that having an alternate day
of the week may greatly reduce your expenses and make it easier
to hire entertainment and book your venue. Also, consider having
your function early afternoon. A lunch is less expensive than a
seven-course dinner. 18. Include a table for the crew,
entertainment and other behind-the-scenes people. They, at times
forget to eat to make sure your event runs smoothly. Show them
the spirit of the holiday season and include them in your
celebrations. 19. If your business is busy during the holiday
season, consider having your event earlier or later. It should
not make a difference if your function is held in November or
January instead of December. 20. Have a cell phone handy for any
last-minute emergencies the day of your event. If a cell phone
is not an option (no signal or simply unavailable), make sure
your suppliers have the venue address and phone number. Your
function will be attended by people from many walks of life and
backgrounds - politically correct term is Holiday Party. Make it
chic, memorable and fun. Have people walk away saying - I had a
great time, that was incredible.” He is a wordsmith comedian,
observer and commentator on society quirks, obsessions and
stereotypes. Incredible Boris is not just a stage name, but also
a way to describe a positive attitude and a constant state of
mind. The Incredible Boris is an expert in psychology, hypnosis,
body language, power of suggestion and human behavior. He
authors a popular ezine “power words and phrases” through his
web sites www.comedywood.com or www.IncredibleBORIS.com or

television programs, including Montel, Howie Mandel Show and the
prestigious Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal. Boris’
self-hypnosis Relaxation and Motivation CD is available through
his web site or as a giveaway to complement his performance at
your company’s function during this holiday season. Happy
Holidays.

Big Cat Vs. Bigger Snake?

I just saw something on TV that really blew me away….

That’s unusual coming from me, as I don’t even watch very much TV these days, so the odds that I would be watching something that would totally floor me are just about zero. Despite that, I’m here to tell y’all that I just watched a TV program that almost made me come up out of my chair…

I hate to admit that I can’t even remember the name of it as I was watching it at 3 am this morning (I have really weird sleeping habits, and let’s just leave it at that). I want to say that it was something like “Animal Kingdom Match-Up,” or whatever. The show had a very basic premise - what would happen if you took two different species from the animal kingdom and matched them up against each other? Which would win? I thought it was pretty creative, but what cinched it for me was the two species they said they were about to match up, a tiger and an anaconda!

A tiger and an anaconda - talk about the Super Bowl of animal kingdom match-ups! For a kid that grew up like I did watching all kinds of nature programs, this was something amazing, intriquing, and incredible all rolled up into one. And it appeared that they were going to literally match them up and let them fight it out right there on the air! Think about it the two combatants…

A tiger - lightning fast, armed with razor sharp claws that could take a man’s arm off in one swipe, and a bite that could quickly send someone to the promised land. A cat weighing hundreds of pounds that will not hesitate to attack anything that he feels may be threatening him.

An anaconda - one of the largest snakes in the world, they can grow upwards to thirty feet, and can be a foot wide across the middle. They’re so large that they can swallow whole species like alligators, cows, or even humans. They kill their victims by wrapping coils around them and constricting (squeezing to death) them. And if all of this isn’t bad enough, an anaconda has a large head with razor sharp fangs, if one bites you pulling it off is nearly impossible.

It’s safe to say that a fight between these two species would be something along the lines of King Kong vs. Godzilla, and, if anything, that might be low keying it. The announcer proceeded to raise my anticipation level even more when he started handicapping the fight. He said that if the anaconda was able to bite the tiger’s head that it was all over, that this would enable the giant snake to hold the tiger and quickly wrap a couple of coils around him. On the other hand, a tiger is so quick that it possibly could avoid the strike of the anaconda. If that happened, the tiger’s jaws or claws would be enough to do serious damage to the snake. It was then noted that a couple of bites to the snake would probably kill it from just infection alone. Man, after hearing all that, I can tell y’all that I was wide awake and ready to watch the animal kingdom fight of the century!

Do y’all want to know who won? I hate to have to tell y’all this, but they didn’t actually match up a live anaconda and tiger. What they did was assign a team of experts to build a mechanical anaconda and tiger. I guess they were concerned that the animal rights people would be on their butts if they staged a real fight, and I’m sure they were right about that. Honestly, though, I lost interest in the program when I discovered that a real fight was not in the cards. Maybe I’d have to sum it up like this - watching a fight between a mechanical tiger and a mechanical anaconda would be about as interesting as watching the prettiest female stripper in the world put on more clothes as her background music was playing. Some things in this world have to be real to mean something, and that definitely holds for true for a battle between an anaconda vs. a tiger. Man, just think, if we could’ve gotten a real fight goin’ with Marlin Perkins in there with ‘em both as the special guest referee….
