12 Tips To Make Your eBay Business More Profitable

Gepost door admin op 31/10/2008
Toegevoegd onder: Bids

Sometimes it’s the simple things that can make your eBay business more profitable and run smoother. Here are twelve things you can do that will lead to more sales and increased profits on eBay.

1. Use auction management tools or services

Using an auction management tool or service allows you to automate most of your day-to-day auction business and frees up time for other activities. There are numerous ones available and the majority of them offer a free 30-day trial period. Find one that fits your needs and budget, learn how to use all of it’s features, and then stick with it. Make certain the one you choose supports eBay’s Item Specifics and Pre-Filled features.

2. Target all your items toward the same market

There’s nothing wrong with offering several different items on eBay, but try to sell things that target the same general market or 2-3 markets. You will find this makes it much easier for satisfied customers to buy from you again. The majority of my customers have returned to buy five or more items from me in the past year. You should strive for this also.

3. End all your auctions on the same day and during the same general time frame

Whatever you are selling, test different days and times of the day to determine what works best for you. Once you determine what day and time works best for you, stick to that time. Your customers will come to know your auctions always end on a certain day at a certain time and know that they can go on the computer on Sunday night at 10 PM, for example, and be able to bid.

4. Fast shipping equates to repeat sales

We live in an instant gratification world. Once an item is paid for, get it in the mail as quickly as possible. This will lead to higher customer feedback and repeat sales. If you aren’t seeing comments about how fast a customer received their item in 60 to 70 percent of your feedback, it’s taking you too long to get things in the mail and it’s hurting your business.

5. Give your product a vacation once in a while

It pays to stop listing an item, or type of item, every once in a while so that potential customers don’t begin to take it for granted that it will always be available. You will find that if you don’t list an item for two or three weeks, when you do it again, it will almost always result in increased bidding and higher bids.

6. Make use of eBay’s “Second Chance” offers

If you have multiples of the same item and more than one person has bid on it, make a “Second Chance” offer to the next one or two unsuccessful bidders. You will find the response rate to these offers is quite high. If you simply choose to re list, there’s a good chance that many of the under-bidders will never see your item when it is re-listed.

7. Use a template to create a recognizable identity

Every auction you run should have a similar layout, graphics, and style that your customers can quickly associate with you. When one of your customers clicks on an item link and first arrives at your auction, they should instantly be able to say, “This is one of Bill’s auctions.” They will instantly feel at home and be more ready to bid.

8. Make use of eBay’s Keyword program

Most people associate eBay’s Keyword program with eBay stores, but it can be used very successfully in conjunction with your auctions too. The Keyword program is usually running some kind of free trial. Take advantage of it and see how it can increase both the number of bids and the ending price for your auctions.

9. Use Google’s Adwords program to attract buyers

Used correctly, Google’s Adwords program is an excellent way to attract potential bidders who would otherwise never see your auctions. As long as you use search words or phrases that are tightly targeted to the item you are selling, this can be a cheap and effective promotional tool.

10. Sell only one item per auction

There are exceptions, but bundling similar products into one auction almost always leads to fewer bids and decreased sales. While there may be times you do this to get rid of inventory that hasn’t sold, it’s normally not a good way to do business.

11. Sell internationally

The simple truth is that if you don’t allow international buyers to bid on your auctions you are throwing money out the door. This is a lucrative market with lots of money to spend. Since many sellers exclude these buyers, it only makes sense that you give them the opportunity to spend their money with you.

12. Accept PayPal

If you’re not accepting payment by PayPal, you may be loosing a lot of bidders and money. Buyers love the convenience of using this service and many won’t bid on an item if the seller doesn’t offer it as a payment option. If you’re not doing it, you are throwing money away.

5 Simple Steps Anyone from 8 to 108 Can Use To Profit On Ebay Starting Today!

Ebay is the perfect Business for anyone. If you are reading this Article you have Just about all you need to run an EBay Business (Access to the Internet). The only other item you may need is a Digital camera. There are no star-up Costs and you can be in Profit the first week often the first few days.

With over 62 Million in Sales Daily and 1 Billion Hits a Month you do not need to do any marketing. Ebay is already the busiest Shopping Mall in the entire World. It’s like the day before Christmas multiplied 10 Fold and not one single person has bought a present yet every single day on Ebay.

Here are the 5 Steps EBay Recommended by Ebay to list an item for Sale

1 - Research

By using the Completed Listings features of EBay it is easy for you to see Pricing and features of items similar to yours before you list. By looking at the differences between Item Headings, Descriptions and Keywords you can see what worked well and what didn’t work well. Don’t Cut and Paste Photo’s or descriptions from someone else auction as Ebay has strict rules about this and you could put your selling privileges in Jeopardy.

2 - Photograph

You need to have Photographs of the Item you want to sell, You should actually have at least 3 and as many as 5 or 6 if that’s what it takes to show all the important Details,

3 - Describe

Your Item Title and Descriptions are the biggest keys to your auctions success. Be sure and use keywords that auction bidders are likely to search on in your title and description, If Auction buyers can’t find your item they can’t bid on your item.

4 - Pricing

Auctions with low minimum bid and no reserves seem to stimulate the best bidding and work best overall

5 - Payments and Shipping

Ebay recommends Paypal (since they now own Paypal) for payments. Paypal does make it easy for anyone to accept credit cards and you do have access to your fund from Paypal right away. The more payment options you offer your buyers the more successful your auction will be. Also be sure and list shipping methods as well as the shipping and handling costs right in your auction.

Your Rights As An Ebay Buyer.

Gepost door admin op 30/10/2008
Toegevoegd onder: Bids

When you buy things on eBay, you pay the seller before they send you anything. This means that you, as a buyer, are vulnerable to all sorts of problems. You might not get the items you have paid for, or they might be damaged or faulty. Luckily, you have two very important rights when you buy on eBay.

The Right to Receive Your Item.

Maybe the seller never sent the item, or maybe it got lost in the post. Whatever happened, you paid for the item. If it doesn’t arrive in the post as described, you have the right to a replacement or a refund, whether it’s the seller’s fault or not.

The fact that you bought something on eBay doesn’t mean that you don’t have the exact same rights that you would have if you bought it in a shop (these rights are pretty much the same all over the world). Plus, under eBay’s rules, the seller isn’t allowed to change their mind about selling you the item: once the auction ends, it becomes a contract - you must buy and they must sell, or face eBay’s penalties.

The Right for Your Item to Be as Described in the Auction.

Sometimes sellers don’t wrap items properly, and so they get broken. Occasionally they write descriptions that are misleading or just plain wrong to begin with, leaving out vital details that would have caused you to change your mind about buying. If this happens to you, you again have the right to a replacement or a refund.

So How Do I Use My Rights?

First, you should take it up with the seller - most will be responsive, as do not want to have their reputation damaged when an upset buyer leaves negative feedback for all their future buyers to see. If that doesn’t work, report them to eBay.

While eBay don’t have many people handling complaints, they do have a relatively effective set of automatic process to handle common problems buyers and sellers have with one another.

Finally, if that doesn’t work, then you should seek advice from consumer groups in your country, and as a last resort from the police. You should never have to get this far, though: problems on eBay that can’t be resolved easily are extremely rare.

Don’t Be Too Quick.

Remember not to get too annoyed and be unfair to the seller: nice sellers have agreed to give me refunds for undelivered items, only for me to find out a few weeks later that they were being held for me at the post office! Always try your best to communicate and think of everything that might have gone wrong: eBay works best when buyers and sellers sort out their problems together, instead of reporting each other to the authorities straight away.

More often that not receiving what they paid for, buyers have an altogether different problem: they knew what they were paying for, but didn’t realise that what they were paying for was overpriced, low quality or a scam. The next email will give you a list of tips on how to avoid being ripped off on eBay.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (Movie Review)

Gepost door admin op 29/10/2008

Steve Martin stars in one of his funniest roles in the late 1980’s hit comedy, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Working with seasoned veteran Michael Caine, the two surprisingly combine to create a hilarious onscreen comedy duo. The two actors play con men, both canvassing the same small territory, and there isn’t room for both of them…

In beautiful Beaumont sur Mer on the French Mediterranean coast, Freddy Benson (Steve Martin) and Lawrence Jamieson (Michael Caine) meet. Both are con men who prey on wealthy women - Freddy using his hard luck stories, and Lawrence utilizing his Old World sophistication and charm. But Lawrence is in a far different league, preying on the wealthy elite of Europe with his years of criminal training. Aspiring to reach such heights himself, Freddy convinces Lawrence to take him on as an understudy. Lawrence relishes the challenge, and together, the two are able to take the town by storm.

But when the boundaries of the small seaside resort become too small for both men, they make a bet as to who is the best at his craft - with the loser agreeing to leave town. Their target is a newly arrived American soap opera star named Janet Colgate. The bet is whoever can get $50,000 from her or go to bed with her first. With the two masters of their craft working against each other, the young American girl is pulled in every direction at once. At least until the two men find out who the true winner of their bet is…

Clever and humorous, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is a classic in the comedy genre. It has several memorable scenes, a number of which are saved until the very end (which has a surprising conclusion). Among them is when Lawrence, playing the role of an imminent psychologist, dances with Janet in a bar while Freddy pathetically looks on from his wheelchair. With Lawrence hurling a series of insults such as “get up out of that chair and dance with this girl,” Freddy tells a group of sailors a sob story about how Janet used to be his girl until she was stolen away by a man who could walk. The sailors kidnap Lawrence with every intention of teaching him a lesson, but Lawrence quickly turns the tables on Freddy.

I highly recommend Dirty Rotten Scoundrels as a great night of entertainment to people of all persuasions. Far from the realm of a slapstick comedy like The Naked Gun, or the borderline ridiculous humor of Airplane, it exhibits a presence of sophistication reminiscent of its subject matter - two con men working the elite and wealthy social circles of Europe. Like Frasier, it displays all the nuance preferred by educated viewers without being snobbish. But most of all, it’s downright plain funny! That’s why it’s a must-see comedy film…

Unearth Personal Coaching to See Awesome Results

Personal coaching is a term that has become incredibly familiar over the last eight years. The term success coaching first became beloved in the United States where, together with Neuro Linguistic Programming, it became part of a redesigned magnificent wave of very proactive therapy modalities.

In many ways both Success Coaching and NLP are an answer against certain aspects of the Humanistic therapy movement, in particular Person-Centred Counselling. A criticism of the human-centred approach is that it is hugely reactive and not truly proactive. Although this works wonderful with some people, with other people long periods of no exit in sight or low return for time and effort occur. Personal coaching and NLP are both humanistic therapy in stance, spending time on improving a person?s happiness rather than delving into the depths of childhood, as in traditional psychology. Their emphasis is, however, deliberately proactive and problem solving. Book a Life Coach in london online.

Success coaching is not about preaching to the coaching customer what to do. This is a common misconception. Some coaches are relatively successful in their business careers and then make the cross over to life coaching, assuming that they will only be required to divulge their pearls of incredible wise wisdom with the customer. This is more like mentoring an apprentice in a specific environment. Coaching is instead about life as a holistic view.

Website Idea for Actors and Actresses

Gepost door admin op 23/10/2008

Thanks to technological advances and recent internet popularity it is now possible for anyone who has enough talent to produce a movie. The barriers that have long made movie production only available to the rich are now no longer. For less than a few thousand dollars you can get all the equipment that you need to film a movie. Of course, only a small number of rising actors actually make it to the big screens and movie theatres. But, with the right moves you can work your way up the ladder by showing off your talent, dedication, and ability when it comes to trying to do it all yourself. This can make for a very impressive resume and help you get your foot in the door as you struggle to separate yourself from the thousands of competitors in Hollywood.

Anyway, here’s the website idea. It’s an ideas to bring together actors and actresses. Make a website where you can join together with other rising stars to produce a movie together. On this website, you’ll want to simply post a movie idea and wait for others to contribute to the idea and apply for the different parts of the movie. This will require some effort and moderation on your part, but this idea could pay off big someday and make it all worthwhile. As your website gains attention and popularity, you can then monetize it with ads. But, while your site is growing keeps the ads off and make everything entirely free and out in the open. This is what I believe is the best way to start off a website as you can see from the other website ideas I have posted in the past. Writing unique content and having other’s contribute content to your website makes search engines happy. They like to see websites that are active and updated with content often.

If you try to make your website only viewable to registered user’s you loose out on all the free search engine traffic and promotion. Enough about that. Why don’t you go get started with this website idea. If you have any questions about this idea, please feel free to post your comments below. I look forward to comments on all my website ideas and encourage you to share your thoughts.

Christmas Presents Ideas for Women

So you want to gift something utterly unique and romantic to your sweetheart this Christmas but don’t know what to buy? You want to impress her by giving her something better than the usual cop-out gifts and yet can’t find the right gift? Look no further, here are plenty of Christmas present ideas for her that will immensely appeal to both you and your heartthrob.

If you do not want to buy romantic Christmas presents for her, then you could go in for something that she likes to indulge in or if she has gourmet taste buds. What could be a better gift then a wine tasting session that takes you and your sweetheart through the beautiful vineyards and gives you a memorable experience of getting to taste various top quality wines of the kingdom.

Christmas presents for her can also translate into pampering sessions if you get her spa and beauty salon gift certificates this season. One will relieve her from all the post Christmas tiredness, while the other can be used to indulge from top to toe. She will emerge looking radiant and beautiful and love you for your thoughtful and caring gifts.

Though most of the times we tend to think of gifts as something tangible, how about doing something special instead that will make her feel like a queen. How about planning for a hearty breakfast on a Christmas morning? Make her a meal that she will love to get up to and don on the apron to be her official kitchen help for the day. You can feed her nibbles of snacks and sips of wine as she prepares the traditional goodies for your family.

This Christmas do not buy Christmas presents for her that are available on the shelf, instead look for gifts that will morph into memories and beautiful experiences to be savoured for a lifetime.

Will Your DVD Movies Last?

Gepost door admin op 20/10/2008
Toegevoegd onder: Uncategorized

If you think your valued collection of DVD movies will last a lifetime, think again - some are already starting to wear away while others are falling apart.

Unofficial estimates put the number of affected DVDs at between 1 and 10%. Yet some of the main distributors for Hollywood Studios are accused of rejecting to accept the problem exists and replace defective products.

The technology, sold as a replacement for VHS, with added interactive contents, is now five years old and the DVD industry claims it is the most triumphant packaged media in consumer electronics history. The failures are a combination of corrosion - known as “DVD rot” - and delamination, where the layers of the disc separate.

Last year Australians spent $398 million buying 13.3 million DVD movie titles - a three-fold increase on the 4.3 million sold in 2001, according to research firm GFK.

Symptoms of the rot include picture break-up and freezing at a specific place on the dvd. The major cause is believed to be poorly planned cases. Delamination shows up as a coffee-like stain that inhibits the disc from playing. Among those worst affected are video movie rental stores, which buy millions of titles per year.

Rohan Byrnes, 34-year-old science fiction fanatic who owns 350 DVD movies, has spent a lot of time glaring at DVD rot. He works as a failure analysis engineer, with access to an optical microscope.

Mr Byrnes has studied five cases of DVD rot - four in his own compilation - and suspects the microscopic decay spots on the aluminium layer inside the disc could be caused by a “chemical attack”, possibly linked to the glue used.

“Some stores have reported they only get two or three rentals from a DVD before it’s unplayable,” said Ross Walden, director of the Australian Video Retailers Association. Distributors “are washing their hands of it”, he said. “Once a DVD has been rented out [distributors] will not take them back.”

One DVD movie website lists 18 titles known to have at least one bad batch, among them Planet of the Apes (1968), Men in Black: Collectors Edition , Independence Day and the Alien Legacy box set.

Mr Byrnes returned his discs to the distributors, 20th Century Fox and Columbia TriStar, including his analysis, and got replacements, but other victims were not so fortunate. Peter Longworth, a DVD collector in Newcastle, had an identical problem with Planet of the Apes two years after buying it.

However, 20th Century Fox declined to replace it as it was out of the 90-day warranty.

“The company declined to accept that there was a manufacturing setback,” he said. Mr Longworth wrote to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission in November, but the movie rental watchdog does not act on consumer warranty problems.

Meanwhile, 20th Century Fox refused to comment on the subject. A spokesman said only: “We always fully compensate our customers for any manufacturing liability found.” Warner Home Video’s managing director, Stephen Nickerson, said: “If a customer has trouble with a disc and it is obviously a manufacturing problem we will replace it. The question is whether it is caused by a manufacturing problem or consumer abuse.”

Oprah’s Favorite Things Hits Big This Holiday Season

Gepost door admin op 19/10/2008
Toegevoegd onder: Uncategorized

Oprah Winfrey is one of the most popular talk show hosts in American television history. As her show enters its 21rst season, she has millions of viewers who tune in each day. One of her most popular segments is her “Favorite Things” holiday show. During this show, Oprah shares with the studio and television audience some of her favorite things including jewelry, gadgets and vacation getaways.

People love this show because on the “Favorite Things” episode, audience members get the extravagant gifts that Oprah displays. Around 300 audience members are showered with gifts each holiday episode. The amount varies, but Oprah audience members can each expect to receive between $4,000 and $15,000 worth of gifts. But, Oprah is a big winner as well. The 2004 episode of “Oprah’s Favorite Things” had the highest ratings ever for a “Favorite Things” episode and was the second highest rated episode for the season.

Oprah has been doing her “Favorite Things” episode since 1999. Guests received a set of Illumination Ritual Candles, each one to inspire different feelings like love, peace and passion and each candle contained a tiny gemstone inside. The 12-candle set was valued at $169.95. Dog owners were no doubt thrilled with the Fifi and Romeo Pet Clothing ($150 and up) - one of Oprah’s favorite things of 1999. One of the most extravagant gifts that year was a Susan Abbott Personalized Painting, ranging from $5,000 and up. Oprah loved the Susan Abbott painting given to her by author Sarah Ban Breathnach.

In 2000, Oprah added many hi-tech gadgets like the Motorola Talkabout pager (priced at $179), so audience members could receive email while on the go. Another favorite thing from 2000 was the book equivalent of the iPod, the Gemstar REB1100 eBook from RCA ($299). The Gemstar let users download up to 8,000 book pages, so they never had to carry around a book again.

The BlissLabs Glamour Gloves ($44) and Gel ($22) was one of Oprah’s favorite things in 2002. The Panasonic 4-in-1 Digital Camera from Frontgate ($449) was also a big hit that year. The camera, the size of a credit card, takes pictures and video, but can also be used as a MP3 player and audio recorder.

In 2003, Oprah decided to do two episodes of her favorite things segment - one in the Spring and one in the Fall. Spring audience members got an Apple iPod ($399), Silhouette Minimal X Sunglasses ($175-$250), and a Hewlett Packard Digital Camera, Printer and Dock (total value $730) among other items. Fall audience members racked up with UGG Classic Short Boots ($110), a Philip Stein Teslar Watch ($595), and a Sony DCR-DVD200 Handycam ($1000).

2004 was a very special Favorite Things segment for Oprah. She convinced 300 teachers to attend her show, under the premise of talking about education and a teacher’s daily routine. Instead, she surprised them with the Favorite Things episode. The teachers received gifts such as a Sony VAIO S260 notebook computer, a Dell 30″ wide-screen LCD television, a Maytag Neptune Top-Load Washer and Drying Center, and a trip for two to the exclusive Miraval Resort and Spa. Total gift amount for each teacher was about $15,000 - much more than the previous year total of $4,800. Oprah, a supporter of education and teachers, knew the teachers were worth every penny.

In 2005, Oprah decided to make her favorite things audience up of Katrina relief workers. Among the gifts were Sony VAIO® FJ Notebook, Kashwére® Shawl Collar Robe, BlackBerry 7105T from T-Mobile, and a couple of Oprah’s favorites from 2004, UGG Australia’s Uptown Boot and an Apple iPod. While considerably less than the year before, the 2005 recipients still received over $7,000 worth of items.

Probably due in part to Oprah’s television audience as well as her personal appeal, each year the manufacturer’s of the items found on Oprah’s favorite things donate all the gifts. But they reap great benefits from doing so. They get television exposure and an immediate increase in sales after each episode. Companies like Sephora and Macy’s have both publically stated that as soon as Oprah mentions one of their products, people are coming in the stores in droves to get it.

So in the end, it is a win-win situation. The manufacturers see increased sales, the audience gets great gifts, and Oprah just keeps on getting more and more popular with her viewing audience.

Shelley Lowery is a successful writer with an interest in celebrities like Oprah Winfrey. She demonstrates the power of Oprah’s Favorite Things list each year on the holiday shopping season. See her report on what products made the list on Oprah’s Favorite Things for 2005, 2004, 2003, and 2002.
